چکیده

Stiction is one of the most adverse non-linearities that can affect a control valve. It impacts both valve longevity and product quality. Currently available stiction compensation methods either reduce the amplitude of oscillation at a cost of increased frequency or require knowledge about process and valve models. In this study a novel stiction compensation scheme is developed which reduces both oscillation amplitude and frequency, obtains good set point tracking and disturbance rejection, and yet requires minimal information about the process and is simple-to-implement online. The method has been successfully evaluated on a pilot plant interfaced to a commercial DCS system.

Fuzzy gain scheduling of PID controller for stiction compensation in pneumatic control valve

Inherent nonlinearities like, deadband, stiction and hysteresis in control valves degenerate plant performance. Valve stiction standouts as a more widely recognized reason for poor execution in control loops. Measurement of valve stiction is essential to maintain scheduling. For industrial scenarios, loss of execution due to nonlinearity in control valves is an imperative issue that should be t...

A new stiction compensation method in pneumatic control valves

AbstractIn this paper, a new compensator is designed so as to eliminate the effect of stiction in the control loop. A wellknown stiction compensation method is proposed that reduces variability both at process variable and valve stem movement. Pneumatic control valves are widely used in the process industry. Stiction is the most common and one of the long-standing problems in the pneumatic cont...

Adaptive RBF network control for robot manipulators

TThe uncertainty estimation and compensation are challenging problems for the robust control of robot manipulators which are complex systems. This paper presents a novel decentralized model-free robust controller for electrically driven robot manipulators. As a novelty, the proposed controller employs a simple Gaussian Radial-Basis-Function Network as an uncertainty estimator. The proposed netw...

Single State Elasto-Plastic Models for Friction Compensation

For control applications involving small displacements and velocities, friction modeling and compensation can be very important. In particular, the phenomena of stiction and presliding displacement (motion during sticking) can play pivotal roles. In this paper, it is shown that existing single-state-variable friction models possess either stiction or presliding displacement. Next, those models ...

Stiction Compensation in Agonist-Antagonist Variable Stiffness Actuators

In the last decade new actuator designs have been presented trying to introduce at mechanical level the advantages of compliance. Ranging from serial elastic actuators to different designs of variable stiffness actuators, various prototypes have been proposed and implemented on robots, thus allowing performance of novel and challenging tasks. Nevertheless some of these new devices often are aff...
